The Historic Center of San Salvador is home to the main civic and religious monuments of the capital: the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace, Gerardo Barrios Square, and the National Library of El Salvador (BINAES). After an extensive revitalization process, it now combines heritage, traditional commerce, pedestrian plazas, and a growing array of specialty restaurants and cafés.
