Brief History
Neo-Gothic temple built with reinforced concrete, featuring pointed arches, colorful stained glass, and sculptures in Carrara marble. Construction began in 1925 under the design of Italian architect Augusto Baratta and was consecrated between 1950 and 1951. It measures approximately 64 meters long by 52 meters wide. It is the starting point for the main Holy Week processions in San Salvador, particularly the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, which winds through the streets of the city center and attracts thousands of people each year.
