About Los Cóbanos

Los Cóbanos is a fishing community on the coast of Acajutla, Sonsonate, surrounded by a protected marine area of over 260 square kilometers of coral reefs. The waves here are calmer than on the rest of the Salvadoran coast, thanks to the breakwater effect of the reef. In its waters, you can enjoy snorkeling, diving, and sport fishing, with species such as dorado, sailfish, and tuna. Between January and February, it is possible to spot humpback whales, which feed and rest in the area before continuing their migratory route.
