About San Andrés
San Andrés was a regional capital in the Zapotitán valley during the Late Classic period. It features an acropolis built with adobe bricks, where the ruling elite engaged in restricted activities, and a large plaza to the north with other structures, including a bell-shaped one, the largest on the site.

Brief History
In most of the buildings, adobe brick construction predominates, although recent work has also documented the use of stone and cut tuff blocks. In the surrounding areas lived the common people: it is estimated that the Zapotitán valley was densely populated during the pre-Hispanic era.

Visit Tips
Entrance: $1 for Salvadorans, $3 for Central Americans and resident foreigners, $5 for non-residents. Residents of the municipality, students with a valid ID, people with disabilities, seniors, and children under 12 years old enter for free.
Open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed on Mondays.
The guided tour lasts from 35 to 45 minutes, in groups of up to 15 people. Combine it with Joya de Cerén: they are 5 km apart and can be done on the same day.
