Brief History

During the Salvadoran armed conflict, Perquín was territory controlled by the guerrilla and the headquarters of Radio Venceremos. After the war, the community transformed that memory into a cultural offering: in 1992, the Museum of the Salvadoran Revolution was opened, managed by former combatants, which preserves weapons, documents, and the radio equipment. That museum was the seed of what is now known as the Route of Peace, a circuit that connects Perquín with El Mozote, Arambala, and Cacaopera.

Visit Tips

The Museum of the Revolution is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 9 to 4: don't arrive on a Monday.

Bring a jacket: it's over 1,000 meters high and gets quite chilly at night.

It is the natural base for exploring the Route of Peace and the waterfalls in northern Morazán.
