About Las Pilas Waterfall
Waterfall of about 30 meters in the Arambala district, north of Morazán, fed by the Sapo River. The water cascades down in several parallel falls over stepped rock, forming turquoise pools at the base. It is located within Julia's Natural Park, about three kilometers from the road that connects Arambala with Joateca.

Brief History
Las Pilas is fed by the Sapo River, considered the cleanest river in El Salvador: analyses attribute around 97 percent purity to it. This condition is due to the fact that its basin traverses a minimally disturbed forest area in the north of Morazán. The waterfall remained off the tourist circuit until the community of Arambala organized access within a natural park, complete with trails and designated areas.
