About San Diego and San Felipe Las Barras National Park
San Diego and San Felipe Las Barras National Park protects approximately 1,866 hectares of tropical dry forest next to Lake Güija. Its trails traverse volcanic terrain and lead to the Hedionda Cave, the Invisible Cave, and the viewpoint at Cerro Campana. The journey allows you to explore rock formations, observe vegetation adapted to the dry climate, and enjoy views of the lake from the higher parts of the park.

Brief History
The volcanic activity in the area left extensive surfaces of rock, small cones, and cavities that today are part of the park's landscape. On this terrain, a dry forest developed with species adapted to long periods without rain. Its importance increased in 2010 when it became part of the Ramsar site Güija Complex and in 2011 when it was included within the Transboundary Biosphere Reserve Trifinio Fraternidad.

Advance reservation required: send the MARN entry form with the list of visitors to [email protected], or coordinate at 2132-6220.
Entrance: $3 Salvadorans, $6 foreigners, $1 private school students and $0.50 public school students, both with ID. Cash only.
Entry hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Single-use plastics are prohibited in all protected areas.
