About Tamarindo Beach
Playa El Tamarindo is located in the south of the La Unión department, in the municipality of Conchagua, along a bay of the Gulf of Fonseca. Its waters are calm and have little wave action, making it suitable for swimming. From the bay, boat tours head out to the mangroves and nearby beaches, and activities such as scuba diving, sport fishing, and, during the season, turtle release are practiced. There are hotels, hostels, and seafood restaurants available. It is more of a relaxing beach than a surfing destination.
