About Mango Point

Punta Mango is one of the most recognized waves in El Salvador, located in the Usulután department. It is a right point break with a rocky bottom: the southwest swell wraps around the point, and the wave runs long, with the inside section tubing when the sea is solid. The access is part of the allure, as it can only be reached by boat or 4x4 vehicle.

Brief History

The isolation of Punta Mango is what kept it intact. Without access via paved roads, for decades it was a wave reserved for those who took the effort to arrive by boat from El Cuco or to venture along dirt paths. This difficulty made it one of the least crowded rights in Central America despite its quality, and it gained a status of pilgrimage among surfers.
