About El Imposible National Park
El Imposible National Park conserves the largest expanse of forest in El Salvador. Its trails wind through mountains, rivers, and natural viewpoints where you can observe the Pacific Ocean. The park protects hundreds of species of trees, orchids, birds, mammals, and butterflies, as well as eight rivers that flow down to the coast and nourish the ecosystems of Barra de Santiago.

Brief History
For years, the muleteers who transported coffee crossed a narrow and difficult ravine known as El Imposible. In 1968, a safer passage was built, but the name remained as part of the identity of the place. The forest was declared a national park in 1989, and three years later, the Cara Sucia–El Imposible area was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Indicative List for its natural and cultural value.

Advance reservation required: send the MARN entry form with the list of visitors to [email protected], or coordinate at 2132-6220.
Entrance: $3 Salvadorans, $6 foreigners, $1 private school students, and $0.50 public school students, both with ID. Cash only.
Entry hours from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is more enjoyable with a community guide, and single-use plastics are prohibited.
